Fuel Briquettes

Briquette is the physical transformation of loose biomass (saw dust, coffee husk, bagasse, wood shavings) into compactly compressed units.
Such units are called briquettes and are produced in sizes of 50 – 60 mm in diameter and 250 – 350 mm in length with the center of briquette being hollow.

RAW MATERIALS USED FOR CONVERTING INTO FUEL BRIQUETTES

Compacting agricultural produces the briquettes and forest biomass residues like bagasse, coffee husk, groundnut shells, saw dust etc.
120 million tones of agricultural and forest resides are generated annually and this form a very cheap, constant and ready raw material source to produce briquettes.

USAGE OF FUEL BRIQUETTES

Briquettes form a suitable substitute to the conventional fuels like firewood. Coal and furnace oil. Fuel briquettes find a ready use in almost all those industrial, commercial and domestic units where conventional fuels are used.

  • Industrial boilers
  • Forges and foundries
  • Cooking – outdoor and indoor
  • Restaurants and canteens
  • Kilns and ceramic units
  • Gasification etc.

ADVANTAGES OF USINGFUELBRIQUETTES

  • High calorific value ranging from 4200 to 5000 k. cal / Kg.
  • Low ash content – 20 – 40% in coal.
  • No emission of sulfur and no production of fly ash.
  • Easy handling of briquettes, as they are modular, uniformly shaped.
  • Clean to handle and store.
  • Cheaper than coal.
